The success of a Nutritional Assessment Workshop for dietitians has demonstrated that it is possible to conduct workshops via satellite. Programs were received and viewed simultaneously by participants at three locations in Maryland, Colorado and Washington. Program development, philosophy, objectives, course content, interaction of speakers and participants, evolution methods, and implications for the future are discussed. Comments regarding cognitive and attitudinal development are included. Overall, the STARDATE project was an effective educational tool for updating and strengthening dietitians.
