Extract: The use of the urea nitrogen to creatinine ratio (U/C ratio) as a quantitative indicator of the adequacy of protein intake, is proposed. Reference U/C values indicating the meeting of protein needs, were used to elaborate nomograms in order to provide a graphic method for checking individuals data. This procedure may be the best approach to identify persons on risk of protein deficiency or for monitoring food programs. (author)
