Mineral content of human milk during a single nursing
1978
Picciano, Mary Frances
Extract: An investigation of the amount and variability of protein, fat and mineral contents of human milk samples representative of the beginning and end of a single nursing was undertaken. As the nursing period progressed, human milk protein content tended to increase but in a less significant degree than the fat content. Variations in calcium, sodium and most strikingly in iron contents of human milk during a single nursing were observed. Human milk magnesium, potassium, copper and zinc contents do not appear to fluctuate from the beginning to and end of a feeding.
