Martin, D.L. | Kincaid, D.C. | Lyle, W.M.
The design and operation of sprinkler irrigation systems are presented and discussed in this chapter. Information is provided concerning the components of irrigation systems and the characteristics of the system that affect water application efficiency and uniformity. The interactions of system characteristics with soil and crop properties are evaluated relative to design and operation of irrigation systems to minimize runoff, deep percolation, and excessive evaporation losses.
