Extract: Yield response functions for corn were estimated for 10 different areas in Kentucky. The main variables in the model were the price of corn relative to nitrogen fertilizers, technology, and weather measures. The analysis found no evidence that Kentucky producers have reacted to changing corn and nitrogen prices. Most of the variation in corn yields is explained by the amount of rainfall in July and the average temperature during the crop season.
