SCOGS report on the health aspects of sucrose consumption
1978
Reiser, Sheldon | Szepesi, Bela
A letter to the editor voices disappointment over the report on the health aspects of sucrose consumption issued by the Select Committee on Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) substances. It is concluded that, contrary to the report, sucrose alone may be a very important etiological factor in heart disease and diabetes in the segment of the population described as carbohydrate sensitive. It is an important risk factor in the development of vascular disease and diabetes in most of the population.
