Nutrition education: a state-of-the-art review

A technical report provides an abstract of a state-of-the-art review paper, commissioned by the World Bank, of the past, present, and future directions of nutrition education, and a summary of comments by 4 experts in various fields of nutrition education. The review paper was divided into 3 sections. The first part concentrated on the problem of malnutrition caused by limited income; the second presented an overview of current practices, and some suggestions on where flaws might exist and what might be done about them; the third addressed the future potentials and directions of nutrition education. The comments of the experts discuss and critique the review, and address the importance of a social marketing approach, future research needs, and the role of the educational system.
