The effect of the Australian Milk Biscuit on dental caries

The enriched Australian Milk Biscuit was viewed as a possible means of supplementing the sometimes inadequate diets of Australian school children. The biscuit contains a sucrose content concentration of 20 percent. When tested in a rat model system, the biscuit was found to be virtually non-cariogenic. This was probably due to the high buffering capacity of the biscuit. Replacement of traditional sweet biscuits by the Australian Milk Biscuit is recommended for dental health reasons.
