A detailed technical report summarizes and discusses environmental factors that affect the nutritional status and growth rate of children in developing countries. Particular attention is given to field studies on nutritional status and malnutrition and infection prevalence, the negative effects of infectious disease on nutritional status, and guidelines for controlling infections and malnutrition. Data developed in the field studies are included, and a panel discussion of this report is appended.
