Bins & tote boxes
1983
Boxes and bins are replaceable items necessary to the foodservice industry. Food or tote boxes are used to convey food or dirty dishes. Tote boxes don't require lids, save labor by reducing transport, and require replacement often. Tote boxes can be made from aluminum or stainless steel, or various plastics, such as polyethylene. Tote and food boxes have standarized sizes. Bins refer to containers used to store large quantities of foods and may be square or rectangular. Containers are smaller than bins and are used to store food or items which should be covered. Several styles are described. Features of special boxes or bins may be highlighted to increase sales. Some materials are better for certain jobs, such as poluethylene for busing. (kbc)
