Fusarium proliferatum: a new causal agent of black point in wheat
1996
Conner, R.L. | Hwang, S.F. | Stevens, R.R.
Fusarium proliferatum was shown to cause black point symptoms on kernels of Pavon wheat (Triticum aestivum) from California. Inoculation of the soft white spring wheat cv. fielder with F. proliferatum produced black point symptoms on the grain that could not be distinguished from those caused by other agents of this disease. Infection of wheat spikes with F. proliferatum reduced kernel number, but had an inconsistent effect on seed weight. Germination of black point kernels at 10 degrees C was significantly reduced, and mycelial growth impaired development of the seedlings that germinated.
