Apple thinning by photosynthesis inhibition

The French Working Group on apple and pear fruit thinning carried out 6 years trials on Brevis®, a photosynthesis inhibitor. Time of application and concentration study were performed, testing the chemical thinner efficacy, the induced phytotoxicity as well as other side effects. The Brevis® response was also evaluated as related to different cultivar. Finally, the efficacy of the combined application of Brevis® with other chemical thinners was also considered.
