Four lignan glycosides [lyoniside, nudiposide, (-)-isolariciresinol 3 alpha-O-beta-D-xylopyranoside and (2R,3R-2,3-dihydro-3-hydroxymethyl-7-methoxy-2-(3' methoxy-4'-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyloxyphenyl)-5 benzofuranpropanol were isolated from the inner bark of Betula pendula, in addition to (+)-catechin, (+)-catechin 7-O-beta-D-xylopyranoside, salidroside, tachioside and isotachioside.
