Under UV irradiation in acetonitrile, acyl(allyl)silanes undergo an intramolecular (2+2) cycloaddition (Paternò-Büchi type reaction) to give unprecedented 1-alkyl-6-oxa-2-silabicyclo[2.2.0] hexanes.
