Multi-spectral images of the crop were collected by using MS4100 Camera mounted over the tractor operated machine for determining nitrogen content in wheat crop. Image analysis was done by using a software developed in Java platform and also by using MATLAB software. Java platform has been used since pixel operations of digital image processing can be performed on CIR images. The software performs different image processing techniques using advanced java concepts on the CIR images. CIR images can be used to detect the amount of nitrogen present in the crop since CIR images capture the image at NIR, R and Green wavelengths. It was concluded that the images captured by MS4100 camera are useful for determination of nitrogen content in wheat crop. The plot with 0 kgN/ha was having NDVI value 0.1038 calculated by the MATLAB software as compared to the plot having 160 kgN/ha with NDVI value 0.2834. The maximum NDVI value calculated by the JAVA software was 0.307 corresponding to the 1.57% nitrogen present in the wheat leaves. The plots where no nitrogen was applied had NDVI value 0.05 corresponding to 0.10% nitrogen present in the crop leaves.
