The variations in oil yield and composition of oils obtained from the aerial parts of clonal individuals of Santolina canescens Lagasca during their growth cycle, were studied. Qualitative and quantitative data were determined by headspace gas chromatography (HS-GC). The maximum oil yield was at the flowering stage and, particularly, in the flower heads. The flower head oil had the highest content of santolindiacetylene (SDA), a new diacetylene derivative.
