A field study was conducted to determine the most favorable combinations of planter components to be recommended to manufacturers and growers for three different tillage systems. Selected tillage systems, planter presswheels, and planter furrow openers were tested for the cropping of corn (Zea mays L.) in soils and conditions encountered in Central Texas during a summer drought in 1996 and more normal season in 1997.
