Field efficacy of Insecticides to Control Alfalfa Weevil, Hypera postica larvae in Kargil, Ladakh

Field trial to evaluate the efficacy of five insecticides for the control of alfalfa weevil larvae were carried out at the Regional Agricultural Research Sub-Station SKUAST-K, Kargil, Ladakh during 2009 and 2010. All the insecticide treatments reduced the mean number of alfalfa weevil larvae per 10 stems significantly, however no significant differences were observed among the insecticide treatments. All the insecticides at their minimum recommended concentrations reduced the mean number of alfalfa weevil larvae/10 stems quite significantly at all the sampling dates at par with their next two higher concentrations used in the experiment. The insecticides gave efficient control of alfalfa weevil larvae up to 25 days after treatment.
