Effect of Integrated Plant Nutrient Management on Content and Uptake of Phosphorus by Indian Mustard

Field experiments were conducted in two consecutive years i.e. 2010–11 and 2011–12 at K.A.P.G. Collage research farm, Allahabad (UP). Crop was sown in rabi season in the same field during both the years and experiments were laid out in RBD. Seed and stover were analyzed for phosphorus content and uptake and it was observed that P content in seed varied from 0.59–0.80% and 0.58–0.80% during first and second year respectively. The overall mean on the basis of both the years was 0.71%. The results were significant due to different treatments during both the years. P80S60 + compost + PSB gave the highest concentration of 0.80% during both the years. Application of P and S resulted in significant increase in P content of seed. Phosphorus uptake by seed ranged from 7.08–20.74 kg ha⁻¹ and 6.84–21.40 kg ha⁻¹ during first and second year respectively. Similarly it varied from 7.70–19.24 kg ha⁻¹ in stover during first year and 7.53–19.57 kg ha⁻¹ during second year. It was observed that uptake values of P were almost evenly distributed in seed and stover. The results were significant due to different treatments during both the years and the treatment P80S60 + compost + PSB gave the highest uptake values throughout. Increasing levels of P and S caused a linear increase in uptake values. Combined application of compost and PSB to each P and S levels caused significant increase in content and uptake of P in seed and stover alike.
