Vitamin E content during development of some seedlings

Vitamin E content was investigated during seedling development of Picea abies, Zea mays and Phaseolus aureus. While alpha-tocopherol was found in all organs, beta- and gamma-tocopherol and alpha-tocotrienol appeared depending on species and state of development. The pattern of components was correlated with the physiological facts as related to differences between germination of gymnosperms and angiosperms.
