A study on constraints of online communication in Dissem-Inating the agri based information technology in Fatehpur District (U.P.)

The present study was carried out during the year 2015 in Fatehpur district of central Uttar Pradesh. The study aimed to know Socio-economic status and constraints faced by the farmers using “On-line communication and information technology ”. There are two types of organization viz. Public and Private, are providing on-line communication services in the state. Total 150 respondents were selected for present study including 75 from each category. Majority of the on-line information users belonged to 20–30 age group, literate male members and most of them were belonged to OBC, having education up to Intermediate and small size of land holding. Poor level of use of on-line communication services was observed. The frequency of seeking information related to plant protection and improved variety of crops was relatively high. Adequacy and relevance of information provided by the private organizations was higher than public on-line information providers. The major constraints perceived by the farmers were small size of land holding, inadequate telecommunication system in respective area, the flow of credit by the government is not proper, poor electric supply in villages and un-commendable jurisdiction of coordinator for information implementation. Majority of on-line users suggest that publicity of on-line communication services through different mass media and computer sources should be extended to each village so that farmers of rural part may get the recent information pertaining to transfer of agricultural technology for improvement of the on-line communication service.
