Scanning electron microscopic study on the superficial cuticle of the nematodes Heligmosomum costellatum (Dujardin, 1845) and H. mixtum Schulz, 1954
1983
Prokopic, J. | Hulinska, D.
The surface structure of the nematodes Heligmosomum costellatum and H. mixtum markedly differs. The mouth opening is rounded in H. costellatum with triangular in H. mixtum; the cuticular bands on the ventral side converge in H. costellatum, whereas those of H. mixtum are longitudinal; the posterior end of female is blunt in H. costellatum, and provided with a spine in H. mixtum. For the first time were observed papillae on the dorsal side of lateral alae of bursa copulatrix in male of H. mixtum. These papillae were not previously reported, as they were not visible in the light microscope.
