Effect of cytokinin on cap opening in Agaricus bisporus during storage

The effect of cytokinin, added directly after harvest of mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus strain U1), upon cap opening during a subsequent storage period, has been studied. Cytokinin, added as benzyladenine, proved to be effective in retarding cap opening, suggesting a role of this growth regulator in the in vivo regulation of postharvest morphogenesis.
