Singapore is committed to future sustainable development across all aspects of life in the country, including manufacturing. It has made major commitments to sustainability and to greenhouse gas emissions reduction. As a small city state with limited natural resources, these commitments are challenging. Pharmaceutical manufacturing is a key industry sector in Singapore, and the companies who manufacture in the country also have made major commitments to future sustainability. The company and national sustainability targets align perfectly. In support of sustainable development, the Singapore government and a number of pharma companies and their technology providers have come together in a jointly funded program, the Pharma Innovation Programme Singapore, to develop solutions that can be deployed to move toward the sustainable pharma factory of the future.
