A present value analysis of returns to irrigation in south central Illinois
1981
Lazarus, W.F. | Scott, J.T. Jr
Extract: Corn yield response to July and August weather and to technological change was estimated for farms in Effingham County, Illinois. The response model was used to find irrigation levels maximizing expected annual net returns over a range of water availability levels. The present values of net returns were calculated for comparison with the cost of supplying water from surface reservoirs. The present value results indicate that irrigation may be economically feasible in the study area, depending on the cost of supplying water.
