Physiological Effect of Botfly Parasitism on Meadow Voles
1965
Clough, Garrett C.
Botflies of the genus Cuterebra were found infesting a population of meadow voles, Microtus pennsylvanicus, in three out of five years during the months of July, August or September. Maximum incidence was 45% in August. The number and position of larvae on the hosts is described. Infested voles had lighter thymus glands and heavier spleens than noninfested voles but survival time in cold water was only slightly lower and adrenal weights were similar.
