Weight and linear growth of the skeleton of domestic reindeer of the Nenets breed | Весовой и линейный рост скелета домашних северных оленей ненецкой породы

English. Reindeer are one of the most widespread and adapted representatives of the northern territories of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. The features of skeletal development are an important ontogenetic trait reflecting the level of development of the animal and the degree of realization of its genetic resource in the phenotype. The purpose of the presented research is to study the characteristics of the growth and development of the Nenets reindeer skeleton, in view of the animal sex and age. Data on the peripheral and axial growth of skeletal bones from birth to the end of growth of males and females were obtained. It has been found that in the postnatal period, the axial segment of the skeleton of male and female reindeer grows faster than the peripheral segment. The linear skeleton growth in deer ends earlier than the weight growth. Females compared to males, are characterized by more intensive weight and linear growth of the skeleton, which is confirmed by the relatively earlier completion of the growth and development of the female bodies in relation to males of the same age. The reindeer skeleton grows slower than the body weight, which increases mainly due to the active growth of other tissues and organs. The greatest increase in skeletal weight and linear grain are observed during the milk period. Consequently, the first six months of a reindeer life are of great importance for the formation of body structure, physiological precocity and the level of future meat and labor performance. The revealed patterns of skeletal growth for Nenets deer can probably be characteristic for other deer breeds.

Russian. Северные олени являются одним из наиболее массовых и адаптированных представителей северных территорий Арктической зоны РФ. Особенностиразвития скелета является важным онтогенетическим признаком, отражающим уровень развития животного и степень реализации его генетическогоресурса в фенотипе. Цель представленных исследований - изучить особенности роста и развития скелета северного оленя ненецкой породы с учетом пола и возраста животных. Были получены данные по периферическому и осевому росту костей скелета от рождения до периода окончания роста самцов и самок. Выявлено, что в постнатальный период осевой отдел скелета самцов и самок северного оленя растет быстрее, чем периферический. Линейный рост костяка у оленей заканчивается раньше, чем весовой. Для самок по сравнению с самцами характерен более интенсивный весовой и линейный рост скелета, что подтверждает относительно более раннее завершение роста и развития организма самок по отношению к самцам-одногодкам. Скелет северного оленя растет медленнее, чем живая масса, которая увеличивается главным образом за счет активного роста других тканей и органов. Наибольший привес массы скелетного костяка и линейный прирост наблюдается в молочный период. Следовательно, первые шесть месяцев жизни северного оленя имеют большое значение для формирования телосложения, физиологической скороспелости и уровня будущей мясной и рабочей продуктивности. Выявленные закономерности роста скелета оленей ненецкой породы, вероятно, характерны и для оленей других пород.
