Resumen La determinación de cationes intercambiables en suelos salinos y/o sódicos, por extracción con acetato de amonio, no permite distinguir las proporciones de cationes intercambiables de sus formas solubles. Para cuantificar sólo los cationes intercambiables en este tipo de suelos, se evaluaron dos métodos alternativos: 1) lavado previo con alcohol de los iones en solución y 2) diferencia entre los cationes extraídos con acetato de amonio y en el extracto de pasta saturada. Los métodos alternativos permitieron cuantificar calcio, magnesio y sodio en suelos con conductividad eléctrica < 40 dS m-1. Por simplicidad operativa, el método 1 resultaría la mejor alternativa.
Show more [+] Less [-]Abstract The determination of exchangeable cations in salt- and/or sodium-affected soils using ammonium acetate does not allow to distinguish between exchangeable cations and their forms in soil solution. To quantify only the exchangeable cations in this type of soils, two alternative methods were evaluated: 1) pre-washing with ethanol of the ions in soil solution and 2) difference between the cations extracted with ammonium acetate and in the saturated soil paste extract. The alternative methods allowed to quantify calcium, magnesium and sodium in < 40 dS m-1electrical conductivity soils. Due to operative simplicity, method 1 proved to be the best alternative.
