La eficiencia energética consiste en la disminución del uso de energía produciendo los mismos resultados finales. La interiorización de este concepto es una realidad para un conjunto creciente de empresas a nivel internacional que están dando resultados económicos positivos a través de la incorporación de estrategias que proyectan la inversión en ahorro energético de manera rentable. Así mismo la calidad en el suministro de electricidad se considera una forma de eficiencia energética en la medida que contribuye al ahorro. Actualmente en el campo Castilla-Chichimene de Ecopetrol en el departamento del Meta se ha detectado que hay distorsiones armónicas presentes en la red y el consumo de energía reactiva tiene un nivel que alcanza a generar cobro (penalización) en la factura. Adicionalmente la energía eléctrica para abastecer el campo es autogenerada en un 84% por una planta térmica a gas y la restante es comprada al Sistema Interconectado Nacional (SIN) al doble del precio de la autogenerada. Esto significa que hay un potencial de ahorro en la factura del suministro de energía en la frontera con el SIN ya que al corregir factor de potencia y disminuir armónicos no solo se podría dejar de pagar la energía reactiva que le están cobrando al campo sino que se pueden disminuir las pérdidas de energía activa que están siendo cobrada a un valor más alto de la autogenerada. Si lo anterior no fuera suficiente ahorrar energía significa liberar capacidad en las líneas de 115 kV que al presente están muy cercanas al límite máximo de carga lo que ha limitado el crecimiento del campo. El resultado esperado de esta monografía es encontrar la estrategia más rentable con la cual se pueda hacer un ahorro energético, mitigando los altos armónicos producidos en los pozos previamente identificados y contrarrestando el flujo de energía reactiva presente en las redes y líneas del campo, lo cual va alineado con la política de barriles limpios en Ecopetrol y alineado con su meta de rentabilidad.

Energy efficiency consists of reducing energy use producing the same end results. The internalization of this concept is a reality for a growing group of companies at an international level that are giving positive economic results through the incorporation of strategies that project investment in energy saving in a profitable manner. Likewise, the quality of the electricity supply is considered a form of energy efficiency to the extent that it contributes to savings. Currently in the Castilla-Chichimene field of Ecopetrol in the department of Meta, it has been detected that there are harmonic distortions present in the network and the consumption of reactive energy has a level that reaches a charge (penalty) in the bill. Additionally, the electrical energy to supply the field is 84% ​​self-generated by a gas-fired thermal plant and the rest is purchased from the National Interconnected System (SIN) at double the price of the self-generated one. This means that there is a potential for savings in the energy supply bill on the border with the SIN since by correcting the power factor and reducing harmonics, not only could the reactive energy that they are charging the field be stopped, but also they can reduce the losses of active energy that are being charged at a higher value than the self-generated one. If the above were not enough, saving energy means freeing up capacity in the 115 kV lines that are currently very close to the maximum load limit, which has limited the growth of the field. The expected result of this monograph is to find the most profitable strategy with which to save energy, mitigating the high harmonics produced in the wells previously identified and counteracting the flow of reactive energy present in the networks and field lines, which It is aligned with Ecopetrol's clean barrel policy and aligned with its profitability goal.
