Plants are sessile organisms that must adapt their developmental responses to the environmental conditions to thrive. Plant development and survival rely then heavily on their capacities to regulate the expression of their genes to produce adaptive responses. Further, the regulatory mechanisms of gene expression represent also a formidable genetic toolkit for morphological novelties contributing to speciation. All the questions that have driven my research so far are linked with these thematics. Throughout my carrier, I use combination of plant molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics to study the regulatory mechanisms controlling gene expression in response to environmental changes and during development in plant with a special interested in the mechanisms underlying pattern formation and their contribution to the evolution of shape. Currently I am focusing on morphogenesis and developmental plasticity using both genomics and system biology approaches to decipher how spatio-temporal dynamics of gene expression shapes organ development. This HDR manuscript recapitulates the different research projects I have been involved in. Importantly it highlights how the masters, PhD students and post-doc I have supervised contributed to science as training through research is for me a priority commitment of my job as a researcher.
