DESCRIPCIÓN DE PUNTOS DE BUCEO EN CAYO LEVISA, ARCHIPIÉLAGO LOS COLORADOS, CUBA. | DESCRIPTION OF DIVING SITES IN CAYO LEVISA, LOS COLORADO ARCHIPELAGO, CUBA.

Localizado en la región noroeste de Cuba, Cayo Levisa es el único cayo en el archipiélago “Los Colorados” con instalaciones turísticas y donde se ofrecen servicios de buceo contemplativo. El buceo se ejecuta en arrecifes costeros entre 5 y 30m de profundidad, principalmente en zonas de explanadas rocosas con corales, camellones y pared. Se presentan tablas y gráficos que muestran las características morfológicas y biológicas de los 7 Puntos de Buceo más utilizados y las especies de corales y peces dominantes en los arrecifes en el 2003. Las esponjas y las gorgonias fueron más abundantes en los puntos de buceo ubicados al oeste del Cayo. Se encontró que 14 especies de coral fueron dominantes en el arrecife y que en los puntos someros el cubrimiento por corales vivos y las tallas de las colonias de coral fueron mayores. En el arrecife dominaron 10 especies de peces, todos de talla pequeña y si fue significativa la ausencia de meros y pargos.

English. Located in the northwest region of Cuba, Cayo Levisa is the only key in the archipelago “Los Colorados” with tourist installations and where contemplative diving services are offered. Diving is done in costal reefs between 5 and 30m deep, principally in rocky planes with corals and gorgonians, spur and groove and in wall zones. Tables and graphics that show morphological and biological characteristics of the 7 most used diving spots and dominant species of coral and fish in the reefs in 2003 are presented. Sponges and gorgonians were most abundant in the spot localized at the west of the key. Fourteen species of corals were dominant in the reef and coral cover and colony size were bigger in the shallower diving spot. The reefs were dominated by 10 species of fish and the absence of groupers and snappers was significant.
