CONTAMINACIÓN POR HIDROCARBUROS EN LA BAHÍA DE GUANTÁNAMO, CUBA. | OIL POLLUTION IN THE BAY FROM GUANTANAMO, CUBA.

La Bahía de Guantánamo se encuentra ubicada en la costa sur oriental de Cuba, el presente trabajo se realizó en la zona norte de la bahía, que corresponde a la administración de Cuba. Se determinan las concentraciones de hidrocarburos totales en sedimentos mediante espectroscopía FTIR. A su vez se cuantifican los hidrocarburos alifáticos y aromáticos en sedimentos mediante cromatografía gaseosa de alta resolución con detector de ionización a la llama (FID). Además se analizan los indicadores geoquímicos que permiten diferenciar los hidrocarburos antropogénicos de aquellos que tienen un origen natural. Se comparan los resultados obtenidos con los reportados en otras bahías del país y se clasifica el grado de contaminación por hidrocarburos existente en la zona de estudio. Como principal resultado se obtiene que la bahía está ligeramente influida por hidrocarburos de origen antrópico.

English. Guantánamo bay is located in the Cuban southeast coast and this survey was achieved in north zone of that bay, corresponding to the Cuban’s administration management. Total hydrocarbons were determined by FTIR spectroscopy. In addition aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons were quantified by gas chromatography of high resolution with flame ionization detector (FID). Furthermore geochemical indicators that allow establishing differences among anthropogenic hydrocarbons from others which have a natural origin were analyzed. Results were compared with others reported for some Cuban’s bays and the grade of hydrocarbons pollution in this area was classified. The main result shows that Guantánamo bay is lightly influenced by hydrocarbons from anthropic origin.
