English. The evaluation of animal welfare has emerged as an issue of great relevance, both from an ethical perspective and in terms of sustainability. In the context of dairy cattle production in the tropics, it is crucial to ensure the well-being of the animals as they are sentient beings and deserve dignified treatment, but it is also important as it maintains the longterm sustainability of livestock production. The objective was to evaluate animal welfare in dairy cattle production systems in the tropics, in accordance with MADR Resolution 253 of 2020, and a current diagnosis of the production systems was carried out. The type of research was mixed, it constitutes quantitative and qualitative approaches with an exploratory scope, it was based on an exhaustive bibliographic review to identify relevant animal welfare indicators. In this way, 4 production systems located in Ocaña and Abrego were evaluated; which three properties were classified as high well-being, and one medium well-being, where recommendations were assigned on the shortcomings that existed in each of the SPs. It is important to carry out a diagnosis to identify or verify what problems arise in the management of the property, which allows for the analysis and correction of deficiencies. The implementation of good animal welfare practices gives added value to the dairy industry in the Colombian tropics, generating long-term sustainability.

Spanish; Castilian. La evaluación del bienestar animal ha emergido como una cuestión de gran relevancia, tanto desde una perspectiva ética como en términos de sostenibilidad. En el contexto de la producción de bovinos lecheros en el trópico es crucial garantizar el bienestar de los animales ya que son seres sintientes y merecen un trato digno, sino que también es importante ya que mantiene la sostenibilidad de la producción ganadera a largo plazo. El objetivo fue evaluar el bienestar animal en sistemas de producción de bovinos lecheros en el trópico, en concordancia con la Resolución 253 del 2020 del MADR, y se realizó un diagnóstico actual de los sistemas de producción. El tipo de investigación fue de tipo mixto, constituye enfoques cuantitativos y cualitativos con un alcance exploratorio, se basó en una revisión bibliográfica exhaustiva para identificar indicadores de bienestar animal relevantes. De este modo se evaluaron 4 sistemas de producción ubicados en Ocaña y Abrego; el cual tres predios se clasificaron en alto bienestar, y uno medio bienestar, donde se asignaron recomendaciones en las falencias que se tenían en cada uno de los SP. Es importante realizar un diagnóstico para identificar o verificar que problemas se presentan en el manejo del predio que permite analizar y corregir falencias. La implementación de buenas prácticas de bienestar animal, da un valor agregado a la industria lechera en el trópico colombiano, generando sostenibilidad a largo plazo.
