The aim of this research is to find out the number of habitats left and their location in Peninsular Malaysia and to determine the number of wildlife species left and their distribution in the various habitats. The areas to be covered include the primary and secondary type of forest mixed with the man-made habitat. This paper covers both the Ulu Langat Forest Reserve and the Sungai Dusun Game Reserve. A total of 6 sites and 3 sites each in Ulu Langat Forest Reserve and Sungai Dusun respectively were investigated. In Ulu Langat, the habitats were of the lowland and upland dipterocarp forest (0' -4,000') while in Sungai Dusun, it is a combination of lowland dipterocarp and lowland swamps interspersed with low lying hills of less than 829' above sea level. Mammals in both the areas appeared poor where a total of 27 and 30 species for Ulu Langat and Sungai Dusun respectively were recorded. While in the case of birds, the species were more abundant in Ulu Langat (212 species) compared to Sungai Dusun (67 species).
