The riskiness of feed grain production – an example of Serbian family far

Feed grain production is exposed to many risks which, in general, can be referred to as internal and external risks. As a result, a significant variation in the profitability of different feed grain could appear due to risk exposure. The riskiness of feed grain production is transferred to livestock breeding (because of the high participation of feed costs in total costs of livestock pro duction) influencing in such a way its economic efficiency. Therefore, the goal of this research is to analyze the profitability of feed grain production in the risky environment. The analysis was based on data originating from Serbian family farms dealing with feed grain production. The results indicate the way farmers make their business decisions in risky circumstances, providing bet ter insight and understanding of farmers’ behavior.
