"Este trabajo destaca la diversidad biológica de México y su trascendencia a nivel mundial. Presenta datos sobre el crecimiento poblacional, también de las transformaciones que las actividades humanas han ocasionado en los ecosistemas naturales. Esto ha propiciado la pérdida de servicios ecosistémicos, que ha puesto en riesgo tanto la riqueza biológica como el bienestar humano. Las áreas naturales protegidas (ANP) son una alternativa para promover el uso sustentable de los recursos, favorecer la prevalencia de los servicios ecosistémicos y permitir la conservación de la diversidad cultural y biológica de México."

It presents data on population growth, as well as the changes that have caused human activities on natural ecosystems. This has led to the loss of ecosystem services, jeopardizing both the biological diversity and human welfare. Natural Protected Areas (NPAs) are an alternative to promote the sustainable use of resources, encourage the prevalence of ecosystem services and the conservation of cultural and biological diversity of Mexico."
