Secondary succession in the quarries of the North Caucasus | Вторичная сукцессия в карьерах Северного Кавказа

English. The study of the processes of overgrowth of construction raw materials pits in the North Caucasus is insufficiently studied issue; the features of secondary successions due to the specifics of soils on technogenically disturbed landscapes, phytocenotic compatibility of tree species have not been identified. Natural herbaceous and woody vegetation growing in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic was studied. The methodological basis was the dominant-based method of geobotanical descriptions. The study of the growth and development of natural forest stands carried out by the method of setting up sample areas and analyzing model trees by conventional taxational methods. In the steppe, piedmont, lower mountain and mountain-steppe zones, the peculiarities of the development of secondary successions were revealed. The regeneration process occurs surrounded by agrarian landscapes, among degraded pastures, in forest areas, surrounded by zonal vegetation. The herbaceous vegetation settles within 5 years after soil stabilization. Then mixed hardwoods with a well-developed shrub layer are formed. Within tree and shrubbery plantings, 5-14 species, aged 7-51 years grow. The density can vary between 600 and 2400 pcs/ha depending on the habitat conditions and the secondary succession duration. Optimization of the species composition is achieved due to individual bioecological needs. That can be the colonization of wet habit areas with Salix caprea L., Alnus glutinosa (L.) Gaertn., dry slopes – Hippophae rhamnoides L., Prunus divaricata Ldb., Rosa canina L. and other drought-resistant, sprouting shrubs. Tall-growing (3.0-11.2 m) grow as the main species: Robinia pseudoacacia L., Gleditschia triacantos L., Carpinus betulus L., Populus balsamifera L, stabilizing the forest environment. The results obtained will make it possible to activate measures for of disturbed soil reclamation, to use the natural resource potential more intensively.

Изучение процессов самозарастания карьеров по добыче строительного сырья на Северном Кавказе является малоизученной проблемой: не выявлены особенности вторичных сукцессий, обусловленных спецификой почвогрунтов на техногенно-нарушенных ландшафтах, фитоценотической совместимостью древесных пород. Исследовали естественную травянистую и древесную растительность, произрастающую в Кабардино-Балкарской республике. Методологической основой послужил метод геоботанических описаний, основанный на доминантах. Изучение роста и развития естественных лесных насаждений производилось методом закладки пробных участков и анализа модельных деревьев общепринятыми таксационными методами. В степной, предгорной, нижнегорной и горно-степной зонах выявлены особенности развития вторичных сукцессий. Процесс демутации происходит в окружении агарных ландшафтов, среди деградированных пастбищных угодий, на лесных территориях, в окружении зональной растительности. Травянистая растительность поселяется в течение 5 лет после стабилизации почвогрунтов. Затем формируются смешанные лиственные насаждения с хорошо развитым кустарниковым ярусом. В составе древесно-кустарниковых насаждений произрастает 5-14 видов в возрасте 7-51 год. Густота может варьировать (600-2400 шт./га) и зависит от условий обитания, продолжительности вторичной сукцессии. Оптимизация видового состава достигается за счет индивидуальных биоэкологических потребностей, которые заключаются в заселении влажных местообитаний Salix caprea L., Alnus glutinosa (L.) Gaertn., сухих склонов – Hippophae rhamnoides L., Prunus divaricata Ldb., Rosa canina L. и др. засухоустойчивыми, корнеотпрысковыми кустарниками. В качестве главной породы произрастают высокорослые деревья (3,0-11,2 м): Robinia pseudoacacia L., Gleditschia triacantos L., Carpinus betulus L., Populus balsamifera L, стабилизирующие лесную среду. Полученные результаты позволят активизировать мероприятия по рекультивации нарушенных земель, интенсивнее использовать природно-ресурсный потенциал.
