Atividade biológica dos compostos cinamaldeído e citronelal em isolados de Haemonchus contortus com diferentes níveis de resistência anti-helmíntica.

Resumo: O parasitismo por nematoides gastrintestinais é um desafio na produção de pequenos ruminantes no mundo inteiro. Ocasiona grandes perdas produtivas e econômicas, principalmente devido à resistência anti-helmíntica. Os compostos naturais com atividade antiparasitária são potenciais alternativas para o controle desses parasitos. Dessa forma, o objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a atividade biológica dos compostos orgânicos cinamaldeído e citronelal em isolados de Haemonchus contortus com diferentes níveis de resistência anti-helmíntica. Para tal foram realizados testes de eclosão de ovos (TEO) e testes de desenvolvimento larvar (TDL) em minicoproculturas. Os testes foram realizados utilizando o isolado de H. contortus resistente a anti-helmínticos Kokstad (KOK), o isolado suscetível Inbred-Strain-Edinburgh (ISE) e o isolado suscetível Echevarria (ECH). Foram calculadas as concentrações efetivas para inibir 50% (CE50) e 95% (CE95) da eclodibilidade dos ovos e do desenvolvimento larvar. Os resultados das CE50 dos TEOs para cinamaldeído apresentaram baixas variações entre os isolados KOK (133.6 μM), ISE (142.8 μM) e ECH (133.2 μM). O mesmo ocorreu com os resultados de CE50 dos TEOs para o composto citronelal (KOK 294.5 μM; ISE 308.7 μM; e ECH 350.6 μM). Já a CE95 para citronelal apresentaram maiores variações entre os isolados estudados (KOK 1,083.1 μM; ISE 3,317.3 μM e ECH 2,008.2 μM). Resultados de CE50 no TDL em minicoproculturas para cinamaldeído (KOK 7,396 μM; ISE 7,232 μM e ECH 6,542 μM) e citronelal (KOK 28,422 μM; ISE 28,883 μM e ECH 31,816 μM) também mostraram pouca variação entre os isolados estudados. Contudo, os resultados de CE95 (Cinamaldeído: KOK 21,594 μM; ISE 14,115 μM e ECH 13,031 μM e Citronelal: KOK 99,284 μM; ISE 53,319 μM e ECH 81,654 μM) apresentaram maior variação entre os isolados do que os resultados de CE50. De maneira geral o citronelal e cinamaldeído mostraram eficácia sobre ovos e larvas de isolados de H. contortus com diferentes perfis de resistência a anti-helmínticos. Abstract: Parasitism by gastrointestinal nematodes is a challenge in the production of small ruminants worldwide. It causes large productive and economic losses, mainly due to anthelmintic resistance. Natural compounds with antiparasitic activity are potential alternatives for controlling these parasites. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the biological activity of organic compounds cinnamaldehyde and citronellal in Haemonchus contortus isolates with different levels of anthelmintic resistance. For this purpose, egg hatch tests (TEO) and larval development tests (TDL) were performed in minicoprocultures.
