In this study quality of locally produced bottled water brands in Oman assessed by comparing the chemical composition indicated on manufacturer’s label with local and international bottled water standards. Results indicated that all the bottled water brands are complying with Omani standards, GSO and IBWA standards. Based on ionic constituents, using piper diagram 20 different water types were identified, in which the most frequently observed type was Mg-Cl. It is found that imported mineral water brands had high levels of calcium compared to locally produced brands. It was observed that local brands contributing only 3.3% of Dietary reference intake ( DRI) of calcium for adults. Based on dietary sodium contribution, Omani bottled water brands are well within FDA's very low sodium category and suitable for individuals on severely restricted Na diet.
