Aplicación del <SUP>222</SUP>Rn para identificar y cuantificar descargas de agua subterránea en el río Mundo (Albacete, España)

La actividad de <SUP>222</SUP>Rn se ha utilizado para evaluar las interacciones río-acuífero en el río Mundo (SE España). El estudio es parte del proyecto MICINN-REDESAC, cuyo objetivo es identificar y cuantificar descarga de agua subterránea a ríos y humedales utilizando trazadores ambientales, entre ellos el <SUP>222</SUP>Rn medido in situ. Se realizaron mediciones de <SUP>222</SUP>Rn en 13 lugares ubicados a lo largo de 47 km del río durante la estación seca de 2011 y 2012. Los resultados sugieren que en ese tramo no hay descargas significativas, excepto las de los manantiales de Ayna y Liétor. Además se ha cuantificado la descarga de agua subterránea en un tramo de 700 m en Ayna mediante balance de masas de <SUP>222</SUP>Rn. La medición se ha hecho dos veces, en octubre de 2011 y mayo de 2012. La descarga calculada es de 229,77 ± 29,57 Ls<SUP>-1</SUP> en 2011 y de 173,96 ± 23,40 Ls<SUP>-1</SUP> en 2012.

<SUP>222</SUP>Rn activity was used to asses river-aquifer interactions within the Mundo river (SE Spain). This study is part of the MICIN research project REDESAC, which aims to identify and quantify groundwater discharges to rivers and wetlands by means of environmental tracers, including <SUP>222</SUP>Rn in situ measurements. <SUP>222</SUP>Rn activity was measured in 13 locations along 47 km of the river during the dry season of 2011 and 2012. Results suggest that within this length there are no significant discharge zones, except Ayna and Liétor spring zones. Additionally, groundwater discharge was quantified in a length of 700 m in the Ayna village by means of a <SUP>222</SUP>Rn activity mass balance. The measurements were made in two occasions, october 2011 and may 2012. The calculated discharge was 229,77 ± 29,57 L·s<SUP>-1</SUP> in 2011 and 173,96 ± 23,40 Ls<SUP>-1</SUP> in 2012.
