Gestión integral y uso del agua de la quebrada la Olga del municipio de Yumbo, departamento del Valle del Cauca

En el presente trabajo se realizó una investigación con el fin de presentar propuestas que ayuden a optimizar los caudales, mejorar el sistema de distribución de agua y mejora la gestión del agua residual, fundamentadas en la Gestión integral y uso del agua de la quebrada la Olga, también conocida como quebrada Pérez, la cual está ubicada en el corregimiento la Olga en la Reserva Forestal Protectora Nacional (RFPN) La Elvira, jurisdicción del municipio de Yumbo, en el departamento del Valle del Cauca. Para ello se realizó un diagnóstico del estado actual de la quebrada recopilando información de sus caudales, usuarios del agua, usos, captaciones y vertimientos, donde se llevaron a cabo visitas a la quebrada y al corregimiento, con lo que se reconoció su biodiversidad y estructura ecosistémica, además de su entorno social. También se logró identificar las captaciones y vertimientos que se le realizan a la quebrada. Para su diagnóstico se seleccionaron tres tramos (zona alta, media y baja) de la quebrada, con el fin de realizar una medición de aforo área-velocidad, con lo que se logró medir sus variables, entre las cuales se encuentran los caudales, dando como resultado para la zona alta, media y baja, valores de 2,89 L/s, 13,55 L/s y 19,84 L/s respectivamente. De igual manera, se midieron los parámetros físico-químicos del agua de la quebrada y se encontró que, a pesar de no haber contaminación por Mineralización o Sólidos Suspendidos, la calidad del agua en los tres tramos estudiados no se encuentra en buenas condiciones; además se clasificó los tres tramos de la quebrada como “eutrofia”, resultado que se debe a las cantidades importantes de fósforo que son vertidas a la quebrada y en cuanto al agua consumida por los habitantes no se encuentra potable. El trabajo realizado permitió evidenciar que las actividades antrópicas que se desarrollan en la quebrada, así como en sus alrededores, inciden directamente en la disponibilidad hídrica. Así mismo, la descarga de aguas residuales provenientes de las viviendas del corregimiento, impactan significativamente en la calidad del agua y a todos a quienes de ella se abastecen, siendo necesario la incorporación de sistemas de tratamiento tanto del agua para consumo como del agua residual. También se logró identificar que el caudal de la quebrada no es suficiente para suplir las concesiones actuales, lo cual podría ocasionar un déficit de agua a las personas que se abastecen en esa zona y generar un desequilibrio de la flora y fauna asociada a la quebrada. Por lo cual es necesario resaltar la importancia de preservar el agua de la quebrada y realizar una adecuada gestión de sus aguas y así mismo considerar la importancia de realizar un plan de alcantarillado y el tratamiento de las aguas residuales que se vierten sobre la quebrada.

In this work, research was carried out in order to present proposals to help optimize flows, improve the water distribution system and improve wastewater management, based on the integrated management and use of water from the Olga stream, also known as Perez stream, which is located in the Olga village in the National Protected Forest Reserve (RFPN) La Elvira, jurisdiction of the municipality of Yumbo, in the department of Valle del Cauca. To this end, a diagnosis of the current state of the stream was made by collecting information on its flows, water users, uses, catchments and discharges, where visits were made to the stream and the township, which allowed the biodiversity and ecosystemic structure, as well as its social environment, to be recognized. It was also possible to identify the catchments and discharges that are made to the stream. For its diagnosis, three sections of the stream were selected (high, middle and low zones), in order to carry out an area-velocity gauging measurement, with which it was possible to measure its variables, among which are the flow rates, resulting in values of 2.89 L/s, 13.55 L/s and 19.84 L/s for the high, middle and low zones, respectively. Similarly, the physical-chemical parameters of the stream water were measured and it was found that, although there was no contamination by mineralization or suspended solids, the water quality in the three sections studied is not in good condition; in addition, the three sections of the stream were classified as "eutrophic", a result that is due to the significant amounts of phosphorus that are discharged into the stream and the water consumed by the inhabitants is not potable. The work carried out revealed that the anthropic activities carried out in and around the stream have a direct impact on water availability. Likewise, the discharge of wastewater from homes in the township has a significant impact on the quality of the water and all those who are supplied by it, making it necessary to incorporate treatment systems for both drinking water and wastewater. It was also identified that the flow of the creek is not sufficient to supply the current concessions, which could cause a water deficit for the people who are supplied in that area and generate an imbalance in the flora and fauna associated with the creek. Therefore, it is necessary to highlight the importance of preserving the water of the creek and to carry out an adequate management of its waters, as well as to consider the importance of carrying out a sewage plan and the treatment of the wastewater that is discharged into the creek
