Evaluación de un plan de enriquecimiento ambiental para aves silvestres cautivas en el zoológico municipal "Parque Orillas del Zamora.

Zoos aims are the preservation, care and protection of endangered species, allowing them to express themselves naturaly, so their well-being depends on the conditions and resources they received.This reseach was done in the Municipal Zoo "Parque Orillas del Zamora" with the main objective of implementing a proposal of environmental enrichment in the psittacine, cracida and ranphastid. It was done to improve or improve the welfare of birds, beginning with the diagnosis of the degree of stress level through focal observations to identify the most relevant activities to make an ethogram and then evaluate the behavior after the implementation of the environmental enrichment proposal. By means of the detail of the activities carried out in the different stages and changes that they presented as the different types of enrichments were implemented (food, physical and sensory) trying to simulate their natural habitat. The data collection was of 30 hours per effective specimen of sampling, distributed in five stages; pre-enrichment, nutritional enrichment, physical enrichment, sensory enrichment and post-enrichment with a duration of 6 hours per stage for 3 consecutive days with observations of one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon. The enrichments that showed the most significant differences were the nutritional and physical enrichments, supporting the hipotesis that enrichments are helpful to improve the behavior of birds kept in captivity, because decreases stress and stereotyped behaviors (retetitive head movements, running in the same direction, etc.). Los zoológicos preservan, cuidan y protegen a especies en peligro de extinción, permitiendo su expresión innata, por lo que su bienestar depende de las condiciones y recursos que reciben. El presente estudio se desarrolló en el Zoológico Municipal “Parque Orillas del Zamora” con el objetivo de implementar una propuesta de enriquecimiento ambiental para las aves psitácidas, crácidas y ranfástidas. Mismo que consistió en mejorar el bienestar de las aves, partiendo de un diagnóstico sobre el grado de estrés con observaciones focales previas a identificar cuáles son las actividades más relevantes y posterior a ello, construir un etograma y evaluar el comportamiento después de la implementación del plan de enriquecimiento propuesto. Mediante el detalle de las actividades realizadas en las diferentes etapas y cambios que presentaron a medida que se implementaron los diferentes tipos de enriquecimientos (alimenticios, físicos y sensoriales) tratando de simular su hábitat natural. La toma de datos fue de 30 horas por espécimen efectivas de muestreo, distribuidas en cinco etapas; pre-enriquecimiento, enriquecimiento alimenticio, enriquecimiento físico, enriquecimiento sensorial y post-enriquecimiento con una duración de 6 horas por etapa durante 3 días seguidos con observaciones de una hora en la mañana y una hora en la tarde. Los enriquecimientos con mayores diferencias fueron los alimenticios y físicos, apoyando la hipótesis de que los enriquecimientos son de mucha ayuda para mejorar el bienestar de las aves mantenidas en cautiverio contribuyendo a disminuir el estrés y conductas estereotipadas (movimientos repetitivos de cabeza, correr en la misma dirección, etc.).
