Identification of factors influencing millennial farmers acceptance in drone technology in Indonesia

Agricultural sector has entering the aging farmers' era where only few young farmers are interested in working in this sector. In order to attract young generation to get involved in agricultural sector, the Ministry of Agriculture Republic of Indonesia established Millennial Farmers Program. Millennial farmers are supposed to be responsive and adaptive to technological advances as well as have high creativity. One of the advanced technology in agriculture is drone technology. This study aims to (1) explain the Millennial Farmers Program and (2) identify the factors influencing millennial farmers' acceptance in drone technology in Indonesia. The questionnaire survey was conducted to 90 millennial farmers in July 2023 in Cinjur, West Java, Indonesia. Factor analysis method will be employed in the study. The results showed that firstly, millennial farmers are farmers aged around 19 to 39 years old. Millennial Farmers are believed to be able to increase people live in rural areas which are based on agricultural sector. The aims of developing Millennial Farmers Program are to increasing the interest of the younger generation in agriculture, creating agricultural entrepreneurs who are adaptive to modern technological changes, creating jobs as well as farmer regeneration. Secondly, millennial farmers' acceptance will be identified based on the drone roles, drone handling skill, perceived usefulness, social vicinity impression, perceived behavior control, perceived perception of drone, cost management of drone, featured benefits of drone practical impacts of drone, drone usability, technological acceptance, perceived ease of use, peers teaching, knowledge and financial, and farmers' learnability. The finding of this study will give useful information for decision makers in prioritizing management strategy for disseminating the use of drone in agricultural sector.
