Ingestive behavior of Holstein x Zebu cattle fed different physical forms of corn and urea | Comportamento ingestivo de bovinos holandeses x zebu alimentados com diferentes formas físicas do milho e uréia

English. The objective of this study was to evaluate the ingestive behavior of Holstein x Zebu dairy cattle fed with different physical forms of maize and urea. Eight animals with average live weight of 476.41 kg and average of 36 months of age were used. The animals were divided into four treatments, containing different types of diets based on nitrogen and carbohydrates: MMUC - ground corn + common urea; MMUP - ground corn + protected urea; SMRUC - rehydrated corn silage + common urea; SMRUP - rehydrated corn silage + protected urea. The experimental design was a 4 x 4 Latin double square, composed of eight animals and four experimental periods. Among all ingestive behavior parameters evaluated, no significant differences (P> 0.02) were found due to replacement of urea by protected urea, and of ground corn by rehydrated corn. Use different physical forms of corn (ground or rehydrated) and add urea (common or protected) in the diet did not affect the ingestive behavior of male dairy cattle Holsteins x Zebu.

Portuguese. Objetivou-se avaliar o comportamento ingestivo de bovinos Holandeses x Zebu, machos leiteiros, tratados com diferentes formas físicas de milho e de uréia. Foram utilizados oito animais com peso vivo médio de 476,41 Kg e média de 36 meses de idade. Os animais foram distribuídos em quatro tratamentos, contendo diferentes tipos de dietas à base de nitrogênio e carboidratos: MMUC – milho moído + uréia comum; MMUP – milho moído + uréia protegida; SMRUC – silagem de milho reidratado + uréia comum; SMRUP – silagem de milho reidratado + uréia protegida. O delineamento experimental adotado foi um duplo quadrado latino 4 x 4, composto de oito animais e quatro períodos experimentais. Entre todos os parâmetros do comportamento ingestivo avaliados não foram encontradas diferenças significativas (P>0,05) em função da substituição da uréia comum pela protegida, bem como o milho moído pelo milho reidratado. O uso de dietas em diferentes formas físicas de milho (moído e reidratado) bem como o acréscimo de uréia (comum e protegida) na dieta, não alteraram o comportamento ingestivo bovinos machos de origem leiteira, Holandês x Zebu.
