Tratamento da água residuária da indústria de biodiesel utilizando reator anaeróbio em bateladas sequenciais | Treatment of wastewater from the biodiesel industry using anaerobic sequencing batch reactor

Objetivou-se neste trabalho aprofundar os estudos de biodegradação da água residuária pro- veniente da produção do biodiesel (ARIB) em AnSBR operando sob condições otimizadas tanto com valor constante quanto com aumento progressivo de carga orgânica volumétrica aplicada (COV A ). Para otimização do processo os fatores avaliados foram pH, temperatura, agitação, concentração do substrato no afluente, massa de inóculo e tempo de reação. O AnSBR utilizado no experimento era cilindrico, tinha volume reacional de 5 L, foi construído em acrílico com banho termostático para controle de temperatura, regulador para velocidade de agitação e registro de descarte de lodo instalado na base do reator. A ARIB utilizada duran- te todo o experimento foi formulada com base nas caracteristicas encontradas na ARIB gerada no processo industrial com glicerol comercial como única fonte de matéria orgânica, bicarbo- nato de sódio como agente alcalinizante, e sais como fontes de macro e micronutrientes, todos dissolvidos em água destilada. Os resultados obtidos indicaram que os fatores agitação, tem- peratura, massa de inoculação e tempo de reação possuiam influência direta na eficiência de remoção de DQO da ARIB. O fator massa de inóculo influenciou em maior peso a eficiência de remoção de DQO e os fatores temperatura e tempo de reação mostraram possuir maior influência sobre o tamponamento do meio. Ao avaliar o AnSBR operando sob COV A cons- tante de 11,3 g L -1 d -1 em termos de DQO, os valores de eficiência de remoção de DQO dimi- nuíram de 51 para 10% após o período de operação estudado e foi observado azedamento do reator com acúmulo de AVT após o 8° ciclo de operação com concentrações máximas acima de 4500 mg L -1 . Ao avaliar o AnSBR operando sob condições de aumento progressivo de COV A de 1,3 a 9,3 g L -1 d -1 em termos de DQO, observaram-se eficiências médias para remo- ção de DQO de 52 a 11%. O coeficiente cinético aparente, referente à velocidade de degrada- ção da matéria orgânica, esteve entre 0,102 e 1,040 h -1 , sendo que o modelo cinético que con- sidera a concentração residual de substrato foi o que melhor se ajustou aos dados obtidos. Conclui-se que os modelos matemáticos gerados neste trabalho podem ser utilizados para previsão, controle de processos e escalonamento do reator. O aumento progressivo da COV A por meio do aumento da concentração de substrato modificou a diversidade microbiana da biomassa o que influenciou na cinética de degradação da matéria orgânica.

The objective of the presente study was to deepen the studies of biodegradation of biodiesel industry wastewater (BIW) in an AnSBR operating under optimized conditions with both constant value and progressive increase of applied organic volumetric load (OLR). The fac- tors analyzed in the optimization of the process were pH, temperature, agitation, non-tributant substrate concentration, inoculum mass and reaction time. The AnSBR used in the experiment was cylindrical, with a reaction volume of 5 L, built in acrylic with thermostatic bath for tem- perature control, regulator for agitation speed and had a log of sludge discard installed in the base of the reactor. The BIW used throughout the experiment was formulated based on the characteristics found in the BIW generated in the industrial process and it was composed by commercial glycerol as sole source of organic matter, sodium bicarbonate as alkalizing agent, and salts as sources of macro and micronutrients, all dissolved in distilled water. The results indicated that the factors agitation, temperature, inoculation mass and reaction time, directly influence the COD removal efficiency of the BIW. The mass factor of inoculum influenced in greater weight the efficiency of removal of COD and the factors temperature and time of reac- tion showing the greater influence on the buffering of the medium. When evaluating the AnSBR operating under constant OLR of 11.3 g L -1 d -1 in terms of COD, the COD removal efficiency values decreased from 51 to 10% after the period of operation and it was observed the souring of the reactor with TVA accumulation after the 8th cycle of operation with maxi- mum concentrations above 4500 mg L -1 . When evaluating the AnSBR operating under condi- tions of progressive OLR increase of 1.3 to 9.3 g L -1 d -1 in terms of COD, it was observed average COD removal efficiencies of 52 to 11%. The apparent kinetic coefficient, which is related to the degradation rate of organic matter, was between 0.102 and 1.040 h -1 , and the kinetic model considering a residual substrate concentration was the one that adjusted to the data obtained the best. It was possible to conclude that the mathematical models generated in the present study can be used for the forecasting, process control and staggering of the reactor. The progressive increase of OLR by increasing the substrate concentration modified the mi- crobial diversity of the biomass and influenced the kinetics of degradation of the organic mat- ter.
