Solo como fator de monitoramento da recuperação ambiental da Foz do Córrego Ferro-Carvão, Brumadinho-MG | Soil as a monitoring factor of the environmental recovery of the river mouth of the Ferro-Carvão stream, Brumadinho-MG

O rompimento da barragem B1 em Brumadinho-MG (janeiro/2019) atingiu os córregos do Feijão e Ferro-Carvão, desaguando no rio Paraopeba e gerando um grande passivo ambiental. A área da foz do córrego Ferro-Carvão foi recuperada e está em processo de monitoramento, conforme tem sido requisitado pela IN IBAMA 04/2011 e outros instrumentos normativos. Neste sentido, objetivou-se com este estudo avaliar e propor um sistema de monitoramento baseado na análise de atributos de qualidade do solo para subsidiar o processo sustentável da recuperação da foz do córrego Ferro-Carvão. As caracterizações físicas e químicas do solo foram efetuadas por meio das amostras retiradas nas profundidades de 0-20 e 20-40 cm, em seis transectos delimitados nas margens do córrego Ferro-Carvão (na área denominada de “marco zero” – A_MZ), um na área da mata nativa (A1) à margem direita do córrego Ferro-Carvão e um na margem esquerda do córrego Casa Branca (A4), as quais foram utilizadas como padrões de referência. Dados obtidos foram submetidos à análise de componentes principais (PCA). E as relações entre as áreas foram observadas pela análise permutacional de variância (PERMANOVA). Os valores observados dos indicadores mais proeminentes foram convertidos em pontuações (variando de 0 a 1), adotando critério de “mais é melhor (b = -2,5)”, “menos é melhor (b = +2,5)” e “ótimo é melhor” para o cálculo da curva sigmoidal de cada um deles. Assim, o peso de cada atributo foi multiplicado pelo seu respectivo valor convertido, sendo o somatório desses produtórios, por camada, o índice de qualidade do solo (IQS). A PERMANOVA revelou similaridade entre as áreas (stress < 0,20) na camada superficial, sendo explicada por índice da saturação por bases (V%), o potencial hidrogeniônico em água (pH em H 2 O), cálcio trocável (Ca 2+ ) e a capacidade de troca catiônica a pH 7,0 (T). Em contrapartida, mostrou uma distinção entre as áreas (stress > 0,20) na subsuperfície, sendo elucidada por V%, pH em H 2 O, densidade de partículas (DP), ferro total (Fe-t), manganês total (Mn-t) e boro (B). Os índices de qualidade do solo também foram similares na primeira e distintas na segunda camada. O IQS da A_MZ na camada 0-20 cm foi de 0,251 e o de ambas as áreas de referência foi de 0,250. Enquanto na profundidade de 20-40 cm, os valores de IQS foram 0,177, 0,167 e 0,166 para A_MZ e as áreas de referência A1 e A4, respectivamente. O IQS da A_MZ para camada 0-20 cm foi cerca da metade do IQS (> 0,500) sugerido para considerar como satisfatório um processo de RAD. Portanto, há uma condição inicial favorável para recuperação ambiental da foz do córrego Ferro-Carvão, porém, a área florística em recuperação possivelmente vai ser distinta da referência, ao longo prazo, devido as condições edáficas dissimilares observadas a partir dos 20 cm de profundidade do solo. The B1 dam failure in Brumadinho-MG (January/2019) reached the Feijão and Ferro-Carvão streams, flowing into the Paraopeba River and generating a large environmental liability. The area at the river mouth of the Ferro-Carvão stream was recovered and it is in the process of monitoring, as it has been required by IN IBAMA 04/2011 and other regulatory instruments. Ergo, the present study had the main goal of evaluate and propose a monitoring system for environmental recovery based on the analysis of soil quality attributes, which may support the sustainable recovery process at the river mouth of the Ferro-Carvão stream. The physical and chemical characterizations of the soil were made using samples taken at depths of 0-20 and 20- 40 cm, in the six transects delimited on the banks of the Ferro-Carvão stream (in the area called “marco zero” – A_MZ), and one demarcated in the native forest (A1) neighboring the right bank of the stream Ferro-Carvão and one on the left bank of the Casa Branca stream (A4). The results were submitted to the principal component analysis (PCA). And the relations between the areas were observed by permutational analysis of variance (PERMANOVA). The observed values of the most prominent indicators were converted in scores (ranging from 0 to 1) adopting criterion of "more is better (b = -2.5)”, “less is better (b = +2.5)" and "great is better” to calculate the sigmoidal curve of each of them. Therefore, each attribute the weight obtained by PCA was multiplied by its respective value converted into a score, being the addition of the products, per layer, the soil quality index (SQI). The PERMANOVA revealed similarity between the areas (stress < 0.20) in the surface layer, being explained by base saturation index (V%), hydrogenionic potential in water (pH in H 2 O), exchangeable calcium (Ca 2+ ) and cation exchange capacity at pH 7.0 (T). And it indicated distinction between the areas (stress > 0.20) in the subsurface, being elucidated by V%, pH in H 2 O, particle density (DP), total iron (Fe-t), total manganese (Mn-t) and boron (B). The soil quality indices were also similar in the first and distinct in the second layer. The SQI of the A_MZ in the 0-20 cm layer was 0.251 and that of both reference areas was 0.250. While at depth of 20-40 cm, the values of SQI were 0.177, 0.167 and 0.166 for A_MZ and reference areas A1 and A4, respectively. The A_MZ SQI for layer 0-20 cm was about half of the suggested soil quality index (> 0.500) to be considered as satisfactory the environmental recovery process. Therefore, there is a favorable initial condition for environmental recovery at the river mouth of the Ferro-Carvão stream, however, the floristic area under recovery will possibly be different from the reference, in the long time, due to the dissimilar edaphic conditions observed from the 20 cm of soil depth.
