Influência do enriquecimento ambiental no comportamento de duas espécies de Trinta-réis mantidos sob cuidados humanos | Influence of enviromenmental enrichment in behavior of two species of terns kept under human care

The maintenance of animals in captivity is a very complicated task due to the importance of adapting to the needs of individuals, thus, it is necessary to study their behavior to define the implementations that will or will not be inserted. The present work had as objective to elaborate a behavioral catalog of two species of Common Tern (Sterna hirundo) and one species of Roseate Tern (Sterna dougallii) in captivity, aiming to carry out changes in the environment to promote animal welfare. The study was developed at the Instituto Mamíferos Aquáticos (IMA), located in the neighborhood of Pituaçu, Salvador - BA, in February and March 2021. This research is based on observational analyzes together with a literature review and descriptive analysis, in order to carry out an ethogram with a total of 40 hours of observation, divided into pre and post-enrichment that will later be quantified and qualified for a characterization of the observed behaviors, enabling the development of environmental enrichments based on their natural habitats and their free-living habits. The results of this work were compared between the individuals under study and their behavior in groups, considering that behavioral studies of these species in captivity are not available in the bibliography, the entire research was based on a literature review.

A manutenção de animais em cativeiro é uma tarefa bastante complicada devido à importância de adequação às necessidades dos indivíduos, dessa forma, faz-se necessário o estudo do comportamento para definir as implementações que serão ou não inseridas. O presente trabalho teve com objetivo elaborar um catálogo comportamental de dois espécimes de Trinta-réis-boreal (Sterna hirundo) e um espécime de Trinta-réis-róseo (Sterna dougallii) em cativeiro, visando realizar mudanças no ambiente para promover o bem-estar animal. O estudo foi desenvolvido no Instituto Mamíferos Aquáticos (IMA), localizado no bairro de Pituaçu, Salvador – BA, nos meses de fevereiro e março de 2021. Essa pesquisa baseia-se em análises observacionais juntamente com revisão bibliográfica e análise descritiva, de modo a realizar um etograma com um total de 40 horas de observação, divididas em pré e pós-enriquecimento que posteriormente serão quantificados e qualificados para uma caracterização dos comportamentos observados, possibilitando o desenvolvimento de enriquecimentos ambientais baseados em seus habitats naturais e seus hábitos em vida livre. Os resultados desse trabalho foram comparados entre os indivíduos em estudo e seus comportamentos em grupo e, tendo em vista que não se tem na bibliografia estudos comportamentais dessas espécies em cativeiro, toda a pesquisa teve como base uma revisão bibliográfica.
