Czech Sugar Factories in Process of Transformation of European Sugar Market

The paper evaluates Czech sugar companies in the process of transformation and abolition of quotas on the European sugar market. The assessment focuses on payment behaviour, financial health and condition. Sugar companies in the Czech Republic had a low probability of bankruptcy before the beginning of 2019 and subsequently in 2020, and good payment morale towards their customers; they were financially stable. A deterioration in financial stability and an increase in the probability of companies going bankrupt would cause a deterioration in the sector’s rating and change the sugar market significantly. There is a high probability of maintaining sugar production at least at current levels and maintaining financial health, solvency and discipline in the period ahead.
