A Review of Headland Overpassing in Headland-bay Beaches

Starting from the concepts of headland-bay beach, headland dunefields and headland overpassing, this paper introduced the conceptual model of headland overpassing, summarized the commonly used research methods and research status of headland dune transport by road, and pointed out the important role of headland-beach-dune system in coastal sediment transport. According to the present situation of coastal dune research in China, it was suggested that the investigation of coastal dune resources should be accelerated, the study of coastal aeolian sand geomorphology process should be strengthened, and the development, utilization, restoration and protection of coastal dune resources should be coordinated, so as to clarify the direction of related research on coastal sand dunes in China.
