Davidović-Gidas Jelena | Đurić Gordana
One of the basic requirements for safe and cost-effective production of horticultural products is varietally correct, quality and healthy propagating material, which is obtained through the system of official control and certification. The production of certified plant material was never used in full capacity, even several years after the adoption of necessary legislation which covers the area of nursery production in the Republic of Srpska. Analysis of the size of pome fruit propagating material production was conducted for the period from 1997 to 2013 by using documentation created in the process of official inspection, and the opinion of fruit producers on the state of domestic market of planting material was also obtained through a survey. The results show that outdated varieties are present in production, which does not contribute to the advancement of fruit production in the Republic of Srpska. Fruit producers do not have sufficient confidence in the quality planting material in the market, but are opened to buying domestic planting material in the controlled market conditions.
